About Brentwood Elementary
Brentwood Elementary is a Kindergarten to Grade 5 school at 7085 Wallace Drive in Brentwood Bay, one of the communities of the District of Central Saanich, and it is run by School District 63 (Saanich). Its teams play as the Brentwood Eagles. The district’s draft 2025 facilities plan counted about 335 students in 2024, under the building’s operating capacity of 370. The school describes Brentwood Bay as a small, semi-rural former farming community of roughly 6,000 people, notes that it sits within three blocks of the village shops, and lends its spaces to local groups for sports, theatre and meetings.
Brentwood belongs to the district’s Central Saanich family of schools. Each spring its Grade 5 students tour Bayside Middle School, also in Brentwood Bay, where they usually go for Grades 6 to 8, and Bayside’s Grade 8 students then move on to Stelly’s Secondary in Saanichton for Grades 9 to 12. The district’s official middle and secondary boundary maps place the school in the Bayside and Stelly’s areas.
Programs and Services
Alongside its English program, Brentwood hosts one of the district’s three StrongStart centres and extra Indigenous education support. Programs and providers change, so confirm current details with the school.
StrongStart BC
Brentwood is one of three SD63 StrongStart sites, with Lochside and Sidney. The free drop-in program is for children up to age five, who attend with a parent, grandparent or caregiver. For 2026/27 it runs Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, with its entrance on Wallace Drive. Families register online first.
Indigenous Education
SD63 schools sit on the territory of the WSANEC people. Brentwood is one of only two district elementary schools with a school-based Indigenous Education Support Teacher, and the school’s profile notes that most of its First Nations students live in the nearby Tsartlip community. A SENCOTEN language teacher also visits every SD63 Kindergarten class several times a year.
Out-of-School Care
The district’s child care list names Otter-Be-Fun Care for Brentwood. Run by Beacon Community Services, it has cared for Brentwood students since 1992 and is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. year-round, except weekends and statutory holidays. The district’s facilities plan shows child care portables leased on the school site. Spaces are arranged directly with the provider.
French Immersion at Keating
Brentwood teaches in English. Families who want Early French Immersion apply to Keating Elementary, whose immersion catchment covers the Brentwood, Keating, Cordova Bay, Lochside and Prospect Lake areas. Entry is in Kindergarten, with registration each January and a lottery for places, and immersion students later continue at Bayside Middle and Stelly’s Secondary.
Arts, Athletics and School Community
Athletics run all year: indoor soccer in September and October, basketball in December and January, a swim club from January to March, cross country in March and April, and track and field in May and June. The creative and performing arts program covers music, drama and art. A spring 2024 newsletter described a choir, a clay club, a Grade 4 and 5 bike rodeo, a Grade 5 camp and a well-attended Elders Tea. The Parent Advisory Council raises money for school and classroom activities.
Living Within the Brentwood Elementary Catchment
The catchment covers about 11.7 square kilometres of Central Saanich, and all but one of its current listings are in the MLS® Brentwood Bay neighbourhood; the other is just over the line in the Keating area. It runs from the shoreline of Brentwood Bay and Saanich Inlet in the west, through the village core on West Saanich Road, where most of the condos and newer townhomes are, and the residential streets around Wallace Drive, Verdier Avenue, Marchant Road and Clarke Road, then east across more open, rural land toward Keating. The school’s own profile describes its families living in a mix of detached houses, apartments and townhouses. The map search follows the district’s published catchment map, simplified, so homes right on the edge may fall on either side; check an exact address with the district’s School Locator. Browse all Brentwood Bay real estate or Brentwood Bay houses, or widen the search to Central Saanich homes for sale, condos and townhomes.
At the start of November 2026 there were about 30 homes listed inside the catchment, from condos near $465,000 to houses around $2.8 million. The 20 detached houses had a median asking price near $1.1 million, and six of them asked about $2 million or more, mostly larger homes from the 1990s and early 2000s. Townhomes ran from about $625,000 to $1.3 million, most of them under $800,000, and five condos asked from about $465,000 to $700,000. None of the listings had been built after 2023.
Older students usually continue at Bayside Middle and then Stelly’s Secondary; see homes in the Stelly’s Secondary catchment. Next door are the Keating Elementary catchment to the east and the Prospect Lake Elementary catchment to the south.
A property’s address inside these boundaries does not by itself guarantee a place at Brentwood Elementary. Catchment boundaries, registration rules and program admission can change: in 2021/22 the district moved part of the Prospect Lake catchment to Brentwood and Lochside. The district says the final decision on catchment schools rests with it, and continuing students and their siblings are placed ahead of new catchment children. French Immersion is assigned separately, through Keating’s immersion catchment and a January lottery. Buyers should confirm the current catchment and registration status with School District 63 (Saanich) before relying on school access as part of a real-estate decision.
