About Rogers Elementary

Rogers Elementary sits at 765 Rogers Avenue in Saanich, on the traditional territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. The Kindergarten to Grade 5 school belongs to School District 61 (Greater Victoria), and its 2024-25 school growth plan counted 270 students. Rogers describes its aim as helping every member of its community reach their potential in a safe, caring environment built on mutual respect, and it uses a positive behaviour support approach, with clear expectations posted for school and for home.

Where Rogers students go next is worth knowing before you buy. Although several nearby elementary schools feed Spectrum Community School, the district’s 2019 boundary review set a different route for Rogers: students move on to Glanford Middle School and then to Reynolds Secondary, which places Rogers in the Reynolds family of schools. That pathway has been in effect since the new boundaries took hold in 2020-21. As with any SD61 address, the district’s School Locator is the place to confirm the schools for a particular home.

Programs and Learning

Rogers keeps its program focused on classroom learning, school sport and student leadership. The details below come from the school’s own pages and can change from year to year, so check with the office for the current picture.

Elementary School Sports

Through the Greater Victoria Elementary School Sports Association, Rogers enters fall and spring cross-country and track for Grades 3 to 5, soccer and basketball for Grades 4 and 5, and floor hockey for students from Grade 2 up.

Student-Led Clubs

Students in Grades 2 to 5 run their own clubs, planning activities that range from academic projects to performing arts and cultural sharing, a practical way to build leadership early.

Writing and Inclusion Goals

The school’s 2024-25 growth plan set out to strengthen students’ descriptive writing, alongside a commitment to a supportive, inclusive school that nurtures neurodiversity and positive relationships.

Child Care on School Grounds

Before- and after-school care is available on site through licensed third-party providers, as it is at every SD61 elementary school. Contacts and registration are handled through the district’s child care page.

School Community and Child Care

The school day runs from 8:45 a.m. to 2:37 p.m. Rogers keeps families up to date through newsletters, an online calendar and social media, and its Parent Advisory Council supports school life, including through volunteer drivers for outings.

Rogers does not host French Immersion. In SD61, French Immersion is a separate program with its own catchment schools, which may not match a home’s English catchment; Kindergarten registration opens online each January, and seats are allocated by space and priority, with a lottery when a school has more registrants than places. The same caution applies to other district programs of choice: they are not tied to a home address.

Living Within the Rogers Catchment

The Rogers catchment lies wholly within Saanich. Its core is the area the MLS® system calls High Quadra, along Quadra Street and the residential streets around Rogers Avenue, Lakeview Avenue and Woodhall Drive. Its southern edge runs close to McKenzie Avenue, taking in a slice of Quadra and some Swan Lake addresses, while a western strip covers part of Glanford around Broadway Street and Hawkes Avenue. The Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary sits along the south-eastern side. Neighbouring catchments include McKenzie Elementary to the south-west and Lake Hill Elementary to the east, and for Grades 9 to 12 Rogers families follow the pathway to Reynolds Secondary. The map search follows the district’s published elementary catchment map, simplified, so homes right on the edge may fall on either side; check an exact address with the district.

The housing spans the post-war decades to the present. Detached homes include 1950s and 1960s houses on streets such as Broadway Street and Canterbury Road, roomier 1970s houses on Quadra Street, and 2000s and 2010s builds. Townhomes run from 1970s complexes on Broadway Street to brand-new 2026 units, and near Christmas Hill a group of large 2012 townhomes on Rainbow Ridge and Rainbow Hill lanes asks prices above most detached houses. Condos include 1980s buildings on Quadra Street and a 2019 complex on McKenzie Avenue. Saanich adopted its Quadra McKenzie Plan on July 6, 2026, a 20-plus-year guide for gradual housing and employment growth that includes a Quadra McKenzie Centre and a Quadra Street corridor in this part of Saanich.

At the start of November 2026 about 35 homes were listed inside the catchment. Condos asked roughly $345,000 to $870,000, with a median just under $490,000; townhomes ran from about $675,000 to $2.2 million, the top end being those large Christmas Hill-area units; detached houses asked roughly $850,000 to $1.6 million, with a median near $1.25 million; and two building lots were listed at about $625,000 and $770,000. Compare Quadra condos or Saanich townhomes.

A property’s address inside these boundaries does not by itself guarantee a place at Rogers Elementary. Catchment boundaries, registration rules and program admission can change, and some programs depend on capacity. Buyers should confirm the current catchment and registration status with School District 61 (Greater Victoria) before relying on school access as part of a real-estate decision.
