Explore current MLS® listings inside the Hillcrest Elementary catchment, which covers a broad part of Gordon Head in Saanich, from the streets around Lambrick Park east to the Haro Strait shoreline, and see what the school offers young families.
Hillcrest Elementary stands on Greentree Terrace in Gordon Head, a School District 61 (Greater Victoria) school for Kindergarten to Grade 5 with 258 students on its 2025-26 growth plan. It belongs to the Lambrick family of schools, formed in September 2006 when the district reorganized around middle schools. Hillcrest and Torquay, both K-7 schools until then, became K-5 schools, Gordon Head Elementary was reconfigured as Gordon Head Middle School, and Lambrick Park Secondary moved from Grades 8-12 to Grades 9-12. Hillcrest students therefore continue to Gordon Head Middle and then Lambrick Park Secondary.
The catchment itself grew in 2020. The district’s 2019 boundary review, which took effect that September, moved the southern part of the old Torquay Elementary catchment into Hillcrest. Today the school’s growth plan aims for culturally responsive, barrier-free classrooms, with particular emphasis on Indigenous education for all students, and its mascot is Mr. Star.
Hillcrest’s program page leans toward the performing arts, with language support and lunchtime clubs alongside. Programs and staffing change from year to year, so check current details with the school. Hillcrest teaches in English; French Immersion is a separate SD61 program with its own catchments, a January online registration and a lottery at oversubscribed schools, so living in this catchment does not secure a French Immersion seat.
Every student receives weekly instruction in music, dance and drama from a performing arts teacher, and Grade 5 students add a strings program.
The Hillcrest choir performs in the wider community and has sung at a Victoria Royals game and at Victoria Sings.
A specially trained ELL teacher coordinates and teaches support for learners from diverse backgrounds, from Kindergarten through Grade 5.
Noon-hour options include Sketch Club and Lego Club, and Grade 5 students take on leadership roles such as lunch monitors.
Sports run through the year, with cross-country, track and intramural games. Before- and after-school care comes from the Hillcrest Elementary Out of School Care Society, a non-profit that offers licensed care for Hillcrest students from 7:15 am until the bell and from dismissal until 5:30 pm, and the district also lists a preschool on the grounds. The Parent Advisory Council organizes hot lunches and volunteer drivers, and families can pay fees and make donations through School Cash Online.
This is classic Gordon Head: residential streets of mid-century family houses and newer rebuilds, wrapped around Lambrick Park, whose roughly 14 hectares hold the Gordon Head Recreation Centre, ball fields, four tennis courts, a box lacrosse court and a skateboard park. The catchment runs east to the Haro Strait shoreline at Gordon Head, and its southern edge is a short trip north of the University of Victoria. The map search follows the district’s published elementary catchment map in simplified form, so homes right on the boundary may land on either side; check any exact address with the district. Torquay Elementary serves the area to the north, the Braefoot Elementary catchment lies to the west and the Frank Hobbs Elementary catchment to the south-east. At secondary level, see the Lambrick Park Secondary catchment.
Detached houses dominate the listings. At the start of November 2026 there were about 30 homes for sale inside the catchment: the typical house was asking close to $1.6 million, townhomes ran from about $780,000 to $1.5 million, and two small condos were priced under $400,000. Three high-end properties, priced from roughly $4.2 million to $7.9 million and including homes near the Gordon Head shoreline, sit far above the rest and pull the average up. Six of the listings were built in 2024 or later. See also Gordon Head houses for sale, Gordon Head view homes and homes near UVic.
A property’s address inside these boundaries does not by itself guarantee a place at Hillcrest Elementary. Catchment boundaries, registration rules and program admission can change, and some programs depend on capacity. Buyers should confirm the current catchment and registration status with School District 61 (Greater Victoria) before relying on school access as part of a real-estate decision. Compare other catchments on the Greater Victoria schools page.
