David Cameron Elementary is a Kindergarten to Grade 5 school at 675 Meaford Avenue, off Hagel Road and close to Veterans Memorial Parkway. The school describes itself as located in Colwood and part of the Sooke School District (SD62), although Langford begins only a short walk away. Students are asked to SOAR: to be Safe, take Ownership of their actions, be Accepting of others and be Respectful.

Growth in Colwood and Langford has reshaped the school. In October 2023 the Province announced eight-classroom additions at David Cameron and Ruth King Elementary, adding 190 seats at each, and the district reports that the prefabricated additions opened in fall 2024. The City of Colwood coordinated sidewalk upgrades on Hagel Road with the school district’s work at the site.

The biggest recent change is the middle-school pathway. Starting in September 2026, David Cameron students move on to Spencer Middle School instead of Centre Mountain Lellum Middle School, which the district says had reached full capacity, and the district’s middle-school boundary map now places the David Cameron catchment inside Spencer’s. Spencer has room to grow and is closer to David Cameron families, many of whom live within walking distance, and it flows to Belmont Secondary. The class that finished Grade 5 in June 2025 was the last group scheduled for Centre Mountain Lellum.

Parents and School Community

A Parent Advisory Council supports the school, with parent volunteer opportunities and online fee payment through School Cash Online. Recent posts on the school website include a girls’ handball league schedule and an Indigo Adopt a School fundraiser, and the school calendar lists the district’s November 16, 2026 town hall on its catchment and pathway review.

Living Within the David Cameron Catchment

The David Cameron catchment covers about 3.8 square kilometres between Goldstream Avenue to the north and Sooke Road to the south, with Jacklin Road as its western edge and Colwood Corners at its eastern tip. Most of it is in Langford: the Langford Proper blocks south of Goldstream Avenue around Station Avenue and Veterans Memorial Parkway, plus the Fairway and Jacklin areas. East of the municipal line it takes in the Colwood streets around Hagel Road and the Hatley Park and Sun Ridge areas north of Sooke Road. Browse the wider Langford Proper and Colwood markets. Neighbouring catchments include Ruth King Elementary and Savory Elementary across Goldstream Avenue, Happy Valley Elementary to the west and Wishart Elementary to the south. The map search follows the district’s published catchment map, simplified, so homes right on the edge may fall on either side; check an exact address with the district’s School Locator.

At the start of November 2026 there were just over 50 homes listed inside the catchment, about 45 of them in Langford. Condos dominated, with about 42 listings from roughly $350,000 to $670,000 and a median near $500,000. Six townhomes ran from about $520,000 to $900,000, and only five detached houses were listed, from about $700,000 to $1.07 million. About 22 listings were built in 2024 or later; the oldest dated from the late 1960s. With no listing above about $1.1 million, the catchment’s averages are not stretched by luxury homes.

A property’s address inside these boundaries does not by itself guarantee a place at David Cameron Elementary. Catchment boundaries, registration rules and program admission can change, and when a school is full the district can waitlist in-catchment students and place them at a designated overflow school. French Immersion is a separate program at École Millstream, École John Stubbs Memorial and École Poirier, with its own registration and, when demand exceeds seats, a lottery. The Sooke School District is also running a catchment and pathway review in 2026-27, tied to a new secondary school planned for Langford, with Board decisions expected in spring 2027. Belmont Secondary is already on the district’s 2026-27 list of schools at or nearing capacity. Buyers should confirm the current catchment and registration status with School District 62 (Sooke) before relying on school access as part of a real-estate decision.
